Stand in Victory

I Corinthians 15:57 says, "But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." The Bible is stating to us that we have victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. We often stumble because we fail or fall short of God's standard of righteousness and holiness. It helps to keep in mind that the victory is not because of our abilities, faithfulness, or commitment, but our faith in what our Lord Jesus has done.

We also need to remember that we are in a war. Usually, victory in a war is not the result of a single battle, but many battles. We may lose a battle sometimes, but if we don't quit, we can win the war by standing in victory on the promises of the Lord.

The Bible says that the Lord is able to keep what is committed unto Him against that day (II Timothy 1:12). This means that if we don't quit, Jesus will keep us. The Bible also tells us that Jesus is our righteousness and sanctification (I Corinthians 1:30). Let's remember that we will reap if we don't faint (Galatians 6:9).

Since we are reaching for a spiritual victory and not a physical victory, the devil may taunt us to make us feel like we are losing when we are actually winning. What looked like defeat at the crucifixion of Jesus was actually the beginning of victory. The Bible tells us that if the demonic powers had known, they would not have crucified Jesus (I Corinthians 2:7-8). Let's stand in the victory of what Jesus has done, understanding that we have victory through Jesus Christ our Lord.
