The presence of God is one of the most important aspects of life for a believer. Psalm 16:11 says, "...in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore." When the Lord told Moses that His presence was going to go with him and give him reseet, Moses' response was: "if Your presence doesn't go with me, then don't lead us to the promised land" (Exodus 33:14-15).
Psalm 15:1 asks the question, "LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? Who shall dwell in thy holy hill?". To abide in the tabernacle meant to abide in the presence of the Lord. The Psalm goes on to say that if we live right, it is possible to dwell in God's presence.
Living in God's presence starts with living right and having truth in our hearts (Psalm 15:2). Our speech and relationship with our fellow man can affect our relationship with the Lord (Psalm 15:3). Supporting the good and the godly but despising the wicked are attitudes that help us abide in God's presence (Psalm 15:4). People that abide in God's presence will keep their word even when it is costly or painful (Psalm 15:4). People that abide in God's presence will not take advantage of the poor or be bribed to pervert justice (Psalm 15;5).
If we live properly, we will never be moved out of the presence of the Lord (Psalm 15:5). We have a promise from Jesus: "I will not leave you comfortless" (John 14:18). Let's seek God's presence.
