We are living in a world that has a great deal of negativity. It seems that world news has a negative overtone and that people can't even have a rational discussion about issues without it resulting in screaming, name calling, and even violence. There is so much negativity that it causes some people to become bitter or cynical.
However, as children of God, we have an answer for dealing with the negative. The day a person is born again, they become a member of the Kingdom of God. Being a member of the Kingdom of God entitles a person to claim the righteousness, peace, and joy that is a part of the Kingdom (Romans 14:17). Additionally, since a child of God has been born of the Spirit, they have access to the fruit of the Spirit. The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance (Galatians 5:22-23).
If we allow the Spirit of God to guide us and mature us, then the fruit of the Spirit will develop in us, giving us additional strength for dealing with negativity.
Often, negativity affects us because it robs us of our peace. The Bible tells us that we should take everything to the Lord in prayer with thanksgiving, and the peace of God which passes understanding will keep us (Philippians 4:6-7).
Finally, the Lord of the Kingdom, Jesus Christ, is Wonderful, Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). We can go to our Lord to get what we need to overcome the negativity of this world because we belong to Him.
