Most Christians are familiar with story of Gideon and his great victory over the Midianites, but often we miss the principles at work in Gideon's life. There are some great principles which can help us to have overcoming and victorious lives as we live for the Lord.
1) The first step in victory is responding to God's call. God called Gideon and he responded even though he felt inadequate (Judg. 6:11-21)
2) The second step was believing and worship (Judg. 6:24). When Gideon realized God had spoken to him, he worshipped the Lord.
3) The third step was setting his own house in order (Judg. 6:25-27). Before a person can go out into the world and have spiritual victory, he must have victory at home and in his own personal life.
4) Even when we have God's calling and anointing, we must still be sure that God had called us (Judg. 6:34-7:40).
5) Even with God's anointing and calling, we still need to follow the Lord's instructions in order to obtain victory.
6) The Lord doesn't need great numbers for victory, just faith and obedience (Judg. 7:1-7).
7) If we are in the Lord's will, He will encourage us (Judg. 7:9-14).
8) The Lord will use things that are base and foolish to men to bring victory (Judg. 7:16-18).
9) When we trust the Lord and follow His leading, the Lord will take care of the enemy (Judg. 7:19-22).
