Prosperity & Success

People everywhere are looking for prosperity and success in their lives. Many people will accomplish great feats and exploits, they will be honored by crowds and the media, but when it is all done, they will not find true prosperity or success. In North America and the Western world, it is so easy to be deceived into thinking that prosperity and success is wealth, possessions, and accolades from our fellow man.

The true peace for which we all are looking is peace within ourselves. Until we have peace with Jesus, we will not really have peace within ourselves. Jesus made the statement that there is no profit in gaining the whole world and losing our souls (Matthew 16:26). When we search out the prosperity in the Bible, we find that it is related to knowing and applying the Word of God in our lives.

When Joshua had to take Moses' place and lead Israel into the Promised Land, the Lord gave instructions to Joshua. God said, "This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt mediate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success" (Joshua 1:8). God promised Joshua prosperity and success if he would speak the Word, think about the Word, and act according to the Word.

The first psalm gives a similar promise. Blessed is the man who delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper (Psalm 1:1-3).

True prosperity and success will come when a person builds his life upon the Word of God. Lord, give us hearts to desire Your Word.
