Christianity Begins in the Home

Christians often get caught up with the idea that witnessing about Jesus is only telling someone about the Bible or how to be saved. It is true that people need to hear the salvation message, but most people will not listen unless they are desperate or believe that you really have something they need.

The Bible says that our lives are epistles which are known and read of all men (II Corinthians 3:2). Paul was saying that the way we live our lives is just like a letter which everyone around us reads.

Our family life speaks loudly to our neighbors and friends about our Christianity. Jesus came to minister to us (Matthew 20:27-28). Husbands, do we minister to our wives and children? Wives, do we minister to our husbands and children?

In our families, husbands should be acting Christ-like towards their wives. This means a sacrificial love (Ephesians 5:25). Wives are to show reverence to their husbands (Ephesians 5:22). Parents should be role modeling how to be a husband or a wife to their children.

The Bible says that they will know we are disciples of Christ by our love (John 13:35). Before we go out and win the world, we need to win our homes. When Jesus is the Lord of our home, it won't be long before our neighbors see the love and peace and want to know the Lord you serve...and then you can be an effective witness!
