Revive Us Again

Both the Church and the country are in desperate need of revival. We see the darkness multiplying around us as people, in ignorance, turn from God. We see people adopting attitudes, customs, and ways of living that are aligned with and come straight from the pagan religions of old.

Yet, with all the darkness, we still have the promises of God. The Lord said that he would pour out His Spirit on all flesh (Joel 2:28, Acts 2:17). We have the knowledge that God wants all men to be saved (John 3:16, I Timothy 2:4, II Peter 3:9). We also have the command of the Lord. "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature" (Mark 16:15). And we know that the gospel will be preached in all the world before the end comes (Matthew 24:14).

But, along with the promises and command of the Lord, we also need a burden for the lost. The Bible says that if we go forth weeping and bearing precious seed, we will doubtless return again with rejoicing (Psalm 126:6). The weeping represents a burden for the lost. The precious seed is the gospel of our Lord Jesus. The rejoicing is the harvest of souls. We need to pray for revival.

Jesus said that no man could come to Him except the Father draw him (John 6:44). The Word of God is telling us that the Spirit of God must draw people. We must pray for the Lord to revive the Church and those around us. Pray for the Lord to revive the saints, recover the backslider, convict the sinner to repent and cause them to hunger and thirst after righteousness. Let's ask the Lord to give us the burden we need and to keep praying for the lost. As the psalmist asked, "Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?" (Psalm 85:6).
