We Can Witness Through Works

While it is essential to become "Born Again" to be saved, and the way to become "Born Again" is to obey Acts 2:38 by repenting, getting baptized in Jesus' name and receiving the Holy Ghost; it is the witness of Jesus in our lives that causes people to listen to the Gospel message.

Often we forget that one of the most effective ways to witness to people is through good works prompted by the Spirit of Jesus. Jesus told his disciples to "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven" (Matthew 5:16). In another place, Jesus said, "But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again..." (Luke 6:35).

To do good is one of the great directives of the Bible. Psalm 34:14 says, "Depart from evil, and do good...” The New Testament says, "As we therefore have opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith" (Galatians 6:10). We can often silence those are opposed to Jesus and his truth by doing good works, and the Bible says it is better to suffer for well doing than to suffer for evil (I Peter 2:15, 3:17).

Doing good provides an opportunity to be a witness to others and is often a key which will open the door to share our faith about Jesus. While we carry this Gospel truth of Jesus and the New Birth, let us remember that good works are also part of God's plan and a method by which we can reach the lost
