Our Reliance Must Be In Jesus

At first glance, the statement "our reliance must be in Jesus" may seem incorrect. You may think the statement should say, "our reliance must be on Jesus." We do need to build our house upon the rock which is the Word, which is also Jesus; however, in the day in which we live, we need to be in Jesus to survive.

Jesus said, "If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you" (John 15:7). Jesus was talking about a relationship where we are in Him and He is in us.

There are storms that are going to come in which we will need to be in Jesus to survive. The psalmist said it this way: "He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty" (Psalm 91:1). He goes on to say, "I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust." A fortress is something that someone gets inside for protection. A refuge is a place that someone gets into for protection or security.

We need to get into the hand of Jesus and let Him be our sufficiency and protection. Jesus is the one who walked on the water, stilled the storm, raised the dead, and now has the keys to death and hell. When we are in Him and He is in us, we have a refuge that will take us through any storm that may come.
