God Is on the Throne

There are times where everything seems to go wrong, but the Bible lets us know that God is still on the throne. Psalm 29 says, "The Lord sitteth upon the flood; yea, the Lord sitteth King for ever. The Lord will give strength unto his people; the Lord will bless his people with peace" (Psalm 29:10-11).

David is believed to be the writer of Psalm 29, and he had times in his life where there were floods of situations and conditions that threatened to overwhelm him. Consider when David delivered the people of Keilah from the Philistines. David was hiding from Saul fearing for his life. David goes down to Keilah and delivers them from the Philistines, yet David had to flee from Keilah because the men were going to deliver him into the hands of Saul.

Consider the situation: David's in hiding for his own life, he then puts his life in danger to save someone else, and those people are willing to turn on David as though he had done nothing; but through all these situations, David knew that even in the flood, the Lord is still king of the flood.

When flood waters of situations come into our lives, we need to remember that the Lord is our refuge. David in another place says, "The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid" (Psalm 18:4). But David goes on to say, "It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect. He maketh my feet like hinds' feet, and setteth me upon my high places." David had rea life problems, but when he thought about his problems and God, he remembered the Lord is king even in the flood.
